About Me

JR has been a paramedic for Ada County for the last 9 years. I also work for Ada County Paramedics in the Logistics Department. JR and I have known each other since middle school. He liked me in highschool, but I thought he was too goofy. We started dating our second year in college. We were married August 14th 2004 and had our little Madison July 30th 2008. Colin completed our family on October 11th, 2011.

The rest of our trip was very enjoyable. We relaxed at Rick and Anita's house, enjoyed the afternoon at the beach, and went to the Bandon Zoo (sorry Aunt Monie, but they have a wonderful endangered cat breeding program). Madison loved the animals, she will tell you that her favorite is the Lemur. We were able to pet a baby lion!!!! It was nice to spend to with Jr's Dad and Anita and I really enjoyed watching Madison enjoy the outdoors. Thank you for letting us invade your house with baby stuff for over a week :)

The Redwoods are so beautiful. We camped in the new growth, which was very impressive, but not as impressive as the drive we took through the old growth (some of those trees are thousands of years old). We stopped at one point for a hike through the trees and of course Madison had to take after me and refuse to walk (that's my payback). Once she warmed up to the area she did have fun and walk some.

The drive to Oregon was really nice. When went the Northern route though Bend, Oregon and it felt a lot shorter than the normal route through Portland. The first day we just hung around Rick and Anita's house and then on Thursday we headed to Crescent City, California to go camping at the Del Norte Redwood forest. We had a beautiful campsite with plenty of hiking trails.

Madison did wonderful camping. She was up until about 930 because the campsite had a ranger led campfire that included slide shows and topics about the Redwoods. The first night was the watershed system and the second night was on the life of the redwood tree. When it was time for bed she laid in our bed with one of us and after asking about 30 questions she would drift off and we would put her in her crib where she would sleep until about 5 am and then she'd crawl into our bed until 8/8:30.

The hard part about the trip is that Rick doesn't have blind in the house so Madison is up until about 9:30-10 pm and up at 6/6:30 am because it is so light outside. I am exhausted. Secondly, she only want me and she wants me to carry her EVERYWHERE!!!!! We are having a great time though. Madison has been spending a lot of time outside with Grandpa and Grandma and playing with the chickens.

Swim Lessons

Mommy and Madison at Mommy/Daddy swim class

After bike ride

I finally have some video of Madison at Mommy/Daddy swim class. She really amazes me at how relaxed she is in the water. She still plays it so seriously and we can barely get her to smile, but this last time Daddy got her laughing. She is so comfortable in the water that she tries to push my hands off of her, but she isn't ready to go on her own yet!!!!! She is really going to hate it when she has to wear her life jacket on the boat or at the ocean, she hates confining things around her.

We had a wonderful fourth of July with my Mom and Dad. They did not make it down until late Friday because of van troubles in the TriCities. We spent a nice Saturday afternoon at the park where we had dinner and watched Madison run around the park. JR was able to meet us with his partner for dinner (I'm sure a younger single guy really wants to spend a Sat. at the park with someone else's kids). On Sunday we had a nice bbq in our backyard. It was a fast weekend, but we enjoyed it. I wish I could say the same for Aspen and Demon. They were both medicated and a mess. Aspen kicked Dad out of the guest room on Saturday and slept with Mom in bed and Dad slept on the couch. Demon was so stoned that he could barely lift his head to lick himself. Madison had to be rocked to sleep multiple times because the "fireworks scared her."
