About Me

My photo
JR has been a paramedic for Ada County for the last 9 years. I also work for Ada County Paramedics in the Logistics Department. JR and I have known each other since middle school. He liked me in highschool, but I thought he was too goofy. We started dating our second year in college. We were married August 14th 2004 and had our little Madison July 30th 2008. Colin completed our family on October 11th, 2011.

Hike

Madison at the end of the hike. She is actually starting to get hat hair!!!

Madison and Daddy. She was so high up.

We went for a hike in the foothills yesturday. We hadn't been there in over a year, but we used to hike in this area all the time because it's an off leash area for the dogs. Well, I guess now the dogs have to be leashed in the parking lot which we found out when some lady decided to yell at us. The trail is literally 2 ft from where we had parked, but I guess that wasn't good enough. JR thought I should have told the lady to "shut up," he wasn't in the best mood yesturday morning. Other than being yelled at, it was a really nice hike. Madison chilled in the day pack as the dogs ran frantically all over the place, but they were really well behaved.

New Things

Madison in the swing

Today was a day full of new experiences for Madison. It all started this morning when she was chewing on my finger and I felt a sharp bump. She's getting her first tooth!!! It's her bottom front tooth and you never would have known she was teething. She has been in such a good mood. Today was a beautiful warm sunny day so we took her to the park this morning where she went down the slide and went in the swing. This afternoon we went in the backyard and blew bubbles. She loves bubbles at the Little Gym so we bought her some for at home. She sure was giggling.

Sandifer's syndrome

This past weekend I noticed that Madison was jerking her arms and head. I thought my poor baby was having seizures or that I was going crazy. She did it multiple times on Friday and Saturday, but JR and his mom never saw it. Finally, on Sunday Tammi noticed Madison jerk her arms and then we had JR hold her until he noticed it. We called the nurse hotline (it was the weekend) and they called our pediatrician to see if Madison needed to go to the ER. Dr. Ally said to bring her in on Monday so she could evaluate her. Madison was diagnosed with Sandifer's syndrome which is reflux. Apparantly it has symptoms of the jerking arms and legs that many people mistake for seizures, but luckily our pediatrician has seen it many times and believes that it is reflux. Madison will be on baby prevacid for the next couple of months and then she should be fine. I guess the jerking of the arms and head is when she refluxes and is her way of saying she's in pain. I am so glad that she just needs some prevacid and will be okay. I automatically thought she had a brain tumor or something horrible. Being a Mom is scary. I started wondering if everything she was doing was normal or not. Thank goodness that JR has the ability to think through things calmly and rationally, but the one thing I am grateful for is that I am able to recognize when something is wrong. It's happened with Aspen and Demon before. I spend so much time with everybody that I notice way before anybody else does that something is wrong.....Mothers intuition....

LOOK WHAT I CAUGHT

This is a picture of JR and Madison during their time together. It's amazing how dad's and mom's are so different with their babies. JR loves to play rougher and I love to cuddle. JR is great with Madison, but sometimes my heart stops when I see him play with her, but she loves it. She will not be afraid of of park rides; she loves to be startled. She really is smiling :)

Homemade Baby Food

Daddy and Madison watching the Super Bowl (JR looks so excited)

The finished products (zuchinni, sweet potatoes and squash)

Zuchinni in the Beaba babycook (that's the whole thing)

Pears

I love the Beaba babycook. I spent this afternoon making homemade baby food during the Super bowl. It is so easy. All you do is dice and the machine does the rest. It will steam, puree, and reheat food and it is nice and small. I made pears, squash, zucchini, and sweet potatoes tonight.

Grandma visits

Grandma and Miss Madison

(I hope Madison is at least 5'5")

This past weekend Grandma came to visit. It was so nice to have her here. She arrived on Friday which was Madison's six month birthday. Madison had her pictures taken at JcPenny. I think they turned out very nice even though we couldn't get her to smile until she was naked and I was blowing raspberries on her tummy. Her Daddy certainly did not help. I will post some of the pictures as soon as I get them. On Saturday Mom, Madison, and I went on our first shopping trip together at Kohl's. They are having great sales. That afternoon Mom watched Madison so that JR and I could get a facial and have lunch together. It was really nice to have some alone time together. I don't think we've done anything with the two of us in a couple of months. Mom left today, but we were still able to get some shopping done at Babies R Us. It was so nice having Mom here to help. It gets long and lonely when JR works a 24 on Thursday and two twelves on Friday and Saturday nights. He comes home so tired that he sleeps until noon the next day (only because I wake him up, he would sleep much longer if I would let him). I sure do hope that Mark and Mic move here when they get back. We had a great weekened and Madison was in such a great, talkative mood
