This past weekend I noticed that Madison was jerking her arms and head. I thought my poor baby was having seizures or that I was going crazy. She did it multiple times on Friday and Saturday, but JR and his mom never saw it. Finally, on Sunday Tammi noticed Madison jerk her arms and then we had JR hold her until he noticed it. We called the nurse hotline (it was the weekend) and they called our pediatrician to see if Madison needed to go to the ER. Dr. Ally said to bring her in on Monday so she could evaluate her. Madison was diagnosed with Sandifer's syndrome which is reflux. Apparantly it has symptoms of the jerking arms and legs that many people mistake for seizures, but luckily our pediatrician has seen it many times and believes that it is reflux. Madison will be on baby prevacid for the next couple of months and then she should be fine. I guess the jerking of the arms and head is when she refluxes and is her way of saying she's in pain. I am so glad that she just needs some prevacid and will be okay. I automatically thought she had a brain tumor or something horrible. Being a Mom is scary. I started wondering if everything she was doing was normal or not. Thank goodness that JR has the ability to think through things calmly and rationally, but the one thing I am grateful for is that I am able to recognize when something is wrong. It's happened with Aspen and Demon before. I spend so much time with everybody that I notice way before anybody else does that something is wrong.....Mothers intuition....
